You may or may not remember but a few months ago we Boffered a different Sony laptop and it was my birthday pretty soon after the Boffer. Well my Dad did indeed see the Boffer and yes he did take my hint to buy me one. My birthday came round as did a laptop-shaped box wrapped up all nicely.
You can imagine my bemusement when I opened up the package to find a plain brown box with the handwritten words “Phony VAIO” staring back at me. My mouth dropped to the floor. What on Earth was this?!
“It’s a shame I missed out on the Boffer last time for you but I was told by the guy on the market stall that this is the new ‘in’ brand” my dad piped up.
“And don’t worry, I’ve already got your Mother’s anniversary present – a Moany CRYO!”
