To be honest with you 99% of Boffer descriptions tend to stray from the truth, only a tiny bit mind you. But this is a true story...apparently the powers that be at ITV had to ask Liz McDonald from Coronation Street to show less cleavage because it was too much for ITV HD. Why anyone would want to watch Corrie in High Def is beyond me, but each their own!
I once had a friend whose Dad never got his head around the concept of abbreviations. I don’t know what it was about them but he just couldn’t work out what they stood for or how to say them, so he learnt to drop his vowels and spoke in consonants.
So one day a few years back when everyone was making sure their TVs were HD ready, my mate’s Dad decided to upgrade his own and phoned up his local Comet.
“Hi I need a toov that’s ready for the hood”.
“I beg your pardon?”
“I need a toov that can play hood doovde”.
Alas he didn’t get very far. He now has an ASBO banning him from all electrical shops in his home town. The industry hasn’t done the local stores any favour with the launch of 3D TVs, mind you...
