Tiffany & Co. little blue box sought after on eBay this Valentines Day

2014 Feb 12th 14:22 PM

Love it or hate it, Valentine`s day does provide a great opportunity to make money!

One of the most wanted items in the run up to Valentines Day this year is the iconic little blue box. We all know what that is, the world famous packaging of Tiffany & Co.  Many will be aiming to sweep their Valentine off their feet with a Tiffany gift.  Although I`m sure there will be some disappointment when they open the box and they don`t find a Tiffany diamond in it.

According to website Qz.com, the empty boxes normally sell for up to £16-£18 each.

TV shows such as Sex and the City and Friends have made these boxes an international sought after item with girls desperate to receive their own Tiffany gift. Tiffany describes these boxes as “an international symbol of style and sophistication".

One of surrounding issues is that eBay restrict sales of accessories or packaging without the accompanying product, as the company believes this could promote counterfeit items.

Qz.com`s article author, Antonia Massa pointed out "So far there’s not enough awareness or reverence for the policy to put a definitive stop to the empty box listings." He also pointed out that recently a set of six boxes sold for £58.25 plus postage, so although eBay does try to prohibit sales of the boxes there are some that slip through the net.

I’m sure many of you have a spare box or two, so if you haven’t got anyone to give them too this Valentine’s Day, try your luck on Ebay and make a few quid!
